Multiplying Disciples

Any person will be able to win many lives for Christ using the “MD” as a tool. By advancing one class per week, a disciple can multiply into two, four, eight and finally sixteen disciples in one year. If we are faithful and dedicated to this vision, a powerful move of God will be produced. Only the human factor will limit the results.

How to Choose a Disciple

Even if we must present the gospel to all people, it is wise to find the adequate disciple. Someone that can embrace the responsibility to disciple other people. In general, it is advisable to disciple someone of the same sex. In the first class it is important to fill in the Personal information making it easier to maintain contact.

Study one class weekly together for 12 weeks while you show the disciple how to be a faithful member of the church. It is a good thing to choose a day and time to meet.

If you are more experienced, you can teach each subject using your own words and use the text only as a compliment. You should share your experiences to amplify the subject. Minister and teach the disciple according to the goals in each class. Do not forget to fill in the Progress Chart at the end of this book.

When you finish the training, the disciple can receive a certificate in the church with the laying on of hands of the leaders. The three requirements are that the disciple has to be saved, baptized in water and in the Holy Spirit. It is important to inform the pastor in the disciple desires to become a member of the church and if he needs counseling in family orientation, prayer for the baptism in the Holy Spirit or healing. In this way the disciple is getting to the place where he can start to disciple people himself.

The Best is to Disciple in Groups of People

If the disciple has not reached the three requirements or if he fells unsecure to have the responsibility for a disciple himself, you can form a discipleship group of four people. In this way the more mature one will be a mentor as you advance together. A group can consist of people of both genders. It is very effective for a couple to disciple another couple. In this way whole families are won to the Lord.

You can form groups of four, six, eight, ten or more people where the one that starts the group becomes the leader. The basic format is for every person to have his own disciple, but it is also possible to train a group using “MD”. If a disciple is not present, you will have to find a way to help him catch up.

To disciple individually is good and has its advantages, but it is more dynamic to form a group where you can sing, worship, and pray together. It is a good thing to serve a cup of coffee or tea to enjoy good fellowship together. You can meet in a home, school, university, workplace, cafe, park or in the church. It is important that every disciple can express himself and ask questions about the class material. To vary you can also invite a minister to your group that can minister to the disciples according to his call and gifts.

Discipleship and the Church

It is good to train every member of the church to disciple other people. The goal is to raise up dedicated and active members. This includes to learn how to live for God, tithe, pray will someone for salvation, baptize in water, minister healing and the baptism in the Holy Spirit. It is vital to inform the leaders about the progress and the experiences that can inspire other disciples. The vision with “MD” will cause booth spiritual and numeric growth in the church and is also of great help as you plant a new church.

It is very important to assist the disciple in the transition to start to disciple another person. This is the most critical time. If both of you will get a new disciple, you have reached the success of multiplication.

It is important to present your disciple with a filled-out certificate in the church to an usher. In this way he can inform the pastor in preparation for the laying on of hand and sending him out to make disciples and to do the work of the ministry. If the disciple can’t or doesn’t want to be present in the church you can present the certificate in the last class if he has fulfilled the three requirements. If not, he can participate in a group that you can form together with other disciples. When the disciple is ready you can present the certificate in the church, in the group or privately.
